Shade is one of the most precious commodities in hot climates. If there are no trees, or those that exist are insufficient to provide much cool space, then an overhead shade-giving structure is necessary. Shade structures are either attached or freestanding. Attached structures become an integral part of the building. Freestanding structures stand purely on their own and need not have any connection with a building. TIP- Homes with modern window systems that are exceptionally tall or feature transoms present elevation challenges. Structures on these homes, if attached to the building above windows, must be far taller than the average, which requires much stronger posts and joinery. But the lofty ceiling creates a much more luxurious space beneath with enough clearance to hang fans easily.
